Brief info

A multi-talented performer from New Brunswick, Canada who writes and sings from the very core of her being, Cathy Hutch is a recipient of the 2008 Diane London Award (Fredericton), received a NB Oscar for Autism for her co-written song “I’m In Here – The Anthem for Autism”, and has been a finalist for the CBC Galaxie of Rising Stars contest. She has performed twice at the ECMA’s, most recently in Charlottetown, PEI where she and her band played to a packed house on the Blues Showcase Stage in 2019. Additionally, Cathy has opened for Canada’s First Lady of Country Music, Carroll Baker, at the Saint John Imperial Theatre (and received a standing ovation); as well as numerous times at the Saint John Exhibition and the Fredericton Playhouse.

Cathy has also completed two Canada-wide coast-to-coast solo tours, been the featured artist in a Saint John Songwriter’s Circle in 2019, and completed several workshops sponsored by the ECMAs.

Cathy’s debut album "Not Goin' Back" (2008) was recorded in Nashville and backed by stellar musicians such as Mike Brignardello (Jake Owen, Gretchen Wilson, Faith Hill) Pat Buchanan (Hall & Oates, Dixie Chicks, Don Henley) and Lonnie Wilson. (Brooks & Dunn, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw)

Her latest release, entitled "Free Wheelin'" (2018) was engineered and produced by Paul Milner (Eddy Grant, Keith Richards, Matt Andersen, Glass Tiger) and features top Canadian talent such as Geoff Arsenault (Matt Andersen, Dutch Mason) and Chris Corrigan (Rita MacNeil, Matt Minglewood), as well as Cathy and her own band both instrumentally and vocally. Indie Shark magazine chose the album as Pick of the Week (06/01/18) and nominated it for Album of the Year. “Free Wheelin” pays homage to the blues and classic rock that Cathy loves so much and is an unforgettable collection of 10 originals and one cover song that are both a testament to joy and the resilience of the human spirit.

Originally a drummer in several popular NB bands, including Sound F/X (Woodstock) and The George Street Blues Project (Fredericton); Cathy’s powerful and percussive sense of rhythm comes to the forefront whenever she picks up a guitar, delighting audiences everywhere she goes!

“Cathy Hutch is everything that is good about live music. She is charming, witty, multi-talented and has a smile that would light the way out of a bar during a power failure. With or without accompaniment Cathy is every bit a professional entertainer. As a songwriter, Cathy exhibits insights into the human condition that show her to have a heart as big as her voice. And man can she liven up a crowd! She rocks, she rolls, and, above all, she entertains.” Richard Blaquiere
