Interview With Kalamity Kaos
Have you always been interested in music? What is your story and how did you start making music?
It all began in October last year. With my partner’s birthday coming up, and him being incarcerated in New South Wales, I realized sending a traditional gift wasn’t an option. That’s when the idea struck me – I could create music for him! It became a way to express my love and share something special despite the distance. While I hadn’t played any instruments before, I was excited by the challenge. With this inspiration, Kalamity Kaos was born. I began experimenting with my words and different beats and different ways to create music with my computer. My intended audience was one person – I never expected anyone else to listen. But I must admit, I’m incredibly surprised and grateful that people have. After I went through the process of getting permission from the correctional center and as a verified artist with my music available on various platforms, I was finally able to send him a CD of my music. It was a truly special moment. This experience has been incredibly inspiring, and I’ve been pouring my creativity into my music. In fact, I’ve written over 30 songs in the past nine months!
What are you working on now? Any future releases we can look forward to?
Right now, I’m really excited to be releasing new tracks every few weeks for the rest of the year. It’s a great way to keep the momentum going and share new music with my audience.
In addition to releasing new tracks, I’m also diving into a new project that I’m passionate about. It’s a full-length album centered around a specific theme. I’m excited to explore this concept in more depth and bring it to life musically. This project will allow me to grow creatively and focus my efforts, which is something I’ve been aiming for since starting Calamity Chaos. I’m aiming to release it in 2024.”
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry?
My ultimate goal in the art industry is to create art that truly resonates with people and leaves a lasting impact. As an artist, I want to craft experiences that evoke emotions, spark ideas, and maybe even make a positive difference in someone’s life. I’m constantly learning and growing, and I hope to keep pushing my creative boundaries and reach a wider audience with my art. Ultimately, I want to look back on a fulfilling career where I stayed true to my artistic vision and connected with people on a deeper level through my creations.”
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
As an emerging artist, I’d say the biggest challenges so far have been working with limited resources and getting my work heard in a saturated space. Creating high-quality audio art requires specific equipment and software, and I’m still finding creative ways to achieve my vision within my means. Additionally, the art world is incredibly competitive, so it’s important to constantly develop my skills and find ways to make my work stand out. There’s definitely a learning curve when it comes to the technical aspects of audio creation, but I’m determined to keep growing and refining my craft.”
How do you go about writing a song? Do you have a melody in your head and then write the other music for it or what’s Your typical songwriting process?
My creative process often starts with a thought, a memory, or an emotion. Something sparks a feeling, and I use that as a jumping-off point. Sometimes it might be a specific sound or phrase that gets stuck in my head. From there, it’s all about internal exploration. I run these thoughts repeatedly in my mind, fleshing out the concept until it feels more concrete. Then, I hit two key tools: my digital audio workstation and a physical pen and paper. I might use the DAW to experiment with sounds and build the sonic foundation of the piece. The pen and paper come in for brainstorming lyrics, narrative elements, or just capturing fleeting ideas that emerge during the process. It’s a very fluid back-and-forth between internal exploration and experimentation with these tools.”
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
Without the internet I would not have even thought to the creation of music. So zi feel it has given a bounce to many artists who previous would not have been heard

What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?
I was in a head on collision that killed a partner and left me very seriously injured. (We were not at fault) Then unbelievably I was in s second car accident. These two accidents combined left me with many serious injuries. For example, my neck has been broken at c2. C5 and c6. Both arms Reconstructed, an ABI (acquired brain injury) PTSD etc. Were only some of what I have been contending with.
So before making music I was and still am in a state of recovery and grief amd loss as in the aftermath of these accidents I lost everything that was important to me.
Would you have any advice for young people wanting to follow in your footsteps?
That life can change at any moment so follow your dreams. Don’t worry about what other people say, be authentic and true to yourself. Be real. Be you.
If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be?
I have much yet to learn about the music industry and as yet am unsure as to what I would change be
How do you feel about originality?
Originality is where it is at. It is no good trying to be someone else when you are always going to be best at being you because you are you. I am always going to be the best at being me because that of who I am, me.
I have never worried about how anyone else does things I do things my own way.
I have never cared about criticism as it is rarely constructive and unless it is from someone who I respect as far as I am concerned it has no effect.
Is there anything else we should know about you? or Something that you would like to add?
This journey has been one of theist cathartic experiences of my difficult and trauma filled life. And I am grateful
