Interview With Dorian
Have you always been interested in music? What is your story and how did you start making music?
I have always loved music, atleast as far back as I can remember. I grew up in church, watched my father sing solos, and later joined the children’s choir. I was about 9 years old when I truly fell in love with music, watching the music video for Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine”!
I always made demos, wrote original songs, and played with beats growing up. But it was not until I left the military, in my later years, that I decided to invest into becoming an independent artist.
What are you working on now? Any future releases we can look forward to?
My new album “Reconnected” drops later this fall. (November 2025)

What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry?
I want my music to touch the hearts of those that can relate to my life journey. If it helps someone, comforts someone, makes them dance, feel, dream, or create memories— then I have truly lived in my purpose.
I’d love to tour the world with my music and meets those that I’ve touched and inspired.
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
Well, for one, it is expensive being an independent artist! Lol
Social media can make you sometimes compare your journey and artistry to those around you. It is also such a noisy environment. So much going on at once at times it can be hard to feel like it’s possible to be seen or heard in midst of it all. But I try to remember why it is that I do what I do, and to keep my own definition of happiness in the forefront of my mind.
How do you go about writing a song? Do you have a melody in your head and then write the other music for it or what’s Your typical songwriting process?
Sometimes melodies come to me based on what I may be going through personally. Other times I am listening to beats and I write what comes to me, almost like a download. I love writing music, and expressing my thoughts and the things yearning in my soul.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
It’s impacted the business in so many ways— both good and bad.
In today’s environment, you can become an artist simply by putting your music out onto the web and creating content around it. It’s a much more obtainable goal in that sense.
The internet has and the level of accessibility to music has made sales decline drastically, as we are now in the streaming age.
But it also has become a place to engage, share, and bond over music.
It’s changed so many things.

Would you have any advice for young people wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Follow your dreams, cultivate your gifts, and take those leaps of faith. Believe you have a purpose, and that you can fulfill it,
If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be?
I’d love to see more raw talent and artist development for sure. I would love for subject matters of substance and love to be more in the forefront of the music scene. Teens and children need music they can listen to with their parents and families again.
How do you feel about originality?
It’s so important. It is the only way to truly last and to be authentic as an artist.
Is there anything else we should know about you? or Something that you would like to add?
I am excited for my new album to come out. It’s been some time since my last project, and I pray it is worth the wait for my supporters!
