Interview With Canning
Have you always been interested in music? What is your story and how did you start making music?
Tom, Fritz and Ricky have always gravitated towards music since early childhood. To dive into the details, please visit our ‘About’ page on the CanningMusic website where the origination stories unfold. As for the current story, Canning simply engages in the emotional story that’s written between the lines that’s been lived through and thru by each member. Tom and Ricky began playing together in high school then Fritz entered the picture shortly after…the beginning of a very long and continuing adventure…
What are you working on now? Any future releases we can look forward to?
Canning is currently working on more singles…FTH is ready for mix, couple others are ready for vox and we are hitting record during rehearsals lately to possibly capture basic tracks for a few songs that are dear to our hearts. We’ll probably release FTH mid winter…
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry?
Music is life so I wouldn’t say there’s an ultimate goal in the life industry but we have achieved knowing that the music we write and record is our freedom…
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
Being fully immersed in the creation, presentation, maintenance, build, analytical, objective, subjective, learning, hacking new paths, finding paths, falling off paths…and in the end…just finding time to forget about it all and just play music…
How do you go about writing a song? Do you have a melody in your head and then write the other music for it or what’s Your typical songwriting process?
When playing in a band for a long time, songwriting has the benefit of knowing what direction the other instruments might head towards. Ricky writes the chords, lyrics and does the arrangements while Tom and Fritz are free to embellish and pen in their emotional story…in the end the songs play the band…
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
The internet has made the world a far more approachable and visual place…making other ideas graspable…sonically though, has been a tougher road since the types of devices music is listened to on has been vastly increased. Quality has been hard to uphold but in the coming years we think that’ll level out. Services are making a serious leap into higher bandwidths and speeds. Hopefully this helps out the music business by allowing smaller artist’s fans to stream directly from their website servers with a reasonable subscription and move away from money greedy services like Spotify which don’t pay forward what they should…
