Brief info

Hermann Braun, also known by his artist name By GH, is a musician from Philippsburg, Germany. He was born in 1966 and has always felt a deep connection to music. Despite not having a singing voice or playing an instrument, music has remained an indispensable part of his life, and the beat flows through his veins and soul.
His journey led him to become a moderator at events, and since 1984, he has used his voice to inspire people. As a state-recognized media informatics specialist, Hermann understands that technology supports him but doesn't replace him musically. Similar to a well-coordinated song where each instrument has its place, he knows the importance of using the right tools. So, he writes and composes songs with his own words, rhythms, and emotions, while being assisted by artificial intelligence.
Many years ago, he devoted himself to building a career in music, but he was always dependent on others. The high costs, unreliability, and ingratitude of those he relied on bothered and annoyed him. These circumstances caused him to put the dream on hold, until today. Now he can tell his stories and share the joy in his music. We are certain you will enjoy the stories in his songs as much as he did when experiencing them.

Interview With By GH

Have you always been interested in music? What is your story and how did you start making music?

“Music has always been a significant part of my life since my youth. Through music, I could dream and occasionally escape from reality. When I started dancing – a skill that still impresses the ladies – I realized how deeply music resonates within. I could confidently say that my mood affected my dancing; when I was in a good mood, my dancing improved, and when I wasn’t, I bounced back.

I’ve always wanted to share my stories and spread positive vibes through my music. Unfortunately, my family wasn’t musically inclined. Despite this, I invested a substantial amount of money in three songs and a promotional campaign with a singer. However, this singer turned out to be an arrogant and unreliable individual, which led me to put the project on hold.

Now, thanks to AI, I have the opportunity to generate songs in my own style and bring joy to others. While I don’t expect to become rich and famous, reaching each person and brightening their day with good vibes is my ultimate goal.

The desire to share my stories and melodies has been with me for ages, waiting to connect with all of you.”

“In May 2024, I embarked on my first song, ‘Every Day is a Party.’ Initially, the quality was lower, but one can’t improve without taking action. Listen to the new songs and decide for yourselves. And if an artist feels a connection to a song, then sing it. Let’s live and feel without boundaries together!”

What are you working on now? Any future releases we can look forward to?

“I work on new songs almost every day and continue to educate myself. But always in Ballance with my Lady! The more precisely I can communicate my intentions to my program, the more accurate and better the song can become. Life follows a similar pattern: When I clearly express my desires to others – or even what I don’t want – everything becomes easier. And let’s be honest: Even if the answer doesn’t always align, we shouldn’t fear losing friends. True friends can handle the truth!

My music is diverse. A DJ once advised me to focus on a single genre, but you can’t eat “steak” every day. Whether you’re a producer or a listener, variety is essential! Currently, I’m working on two projects: an expanded freestyle dance music project based on “Enjoy the Beats” and the unique “Non Binary” project. In this context, just as zeros and ones coexist on a hard drive, men and women exist on Earth. However, when played through speakers, they become non-binary and individual, much like you and me. So, we invite non-binary individuals to dance to our (sound)!

This topic is close to my heart because I believe we have only one world. Age, hair color, gender, and all other aspects should be non-binary. As long as someone is cool, they can be whoever they want to be. Let’s celebrate together!”

What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry?

Not a target to be rich an Famous. And the more people I can reach, the stronger our connection as a society.”

“I’ve actually answered this question before, but here’s the short version. I want to motivate people, distract them from everyday life, give them positive feelings, and even help them through tough times with fitting sad songs like ‘How does it feel.’ It’s about helping them get back to life. I also share stories from my own life and experiences. And believe me, I’ve been working as a moderator/entertainer at events since 1984, both professionally and personally. But that’s life!

What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?

“I’ve overcome several challenges in my life: burnout, an accident resulting in a broken spinal vertebra (I narrowly avoided being in a wheelchair), and many other issues related to family, money, and friends – especially the combination of friendship and finances.

Currently, the music industry is resisting the use of AI. But let’s be honest: I invest a lot of time in my songs to avoid creating just “anything.” Perhaps this effort will result in some nostalgic songs for the future.

Without diminishing the achievements of many brilliant DJs: A DJ often takes a well-known song and creates a new remix using apps (which also utilize AI). It would surprise me if someone on the dance floor hears a great song and says, “I won’t dance to AI-generated music.” We all don’t know exactly how much AI is already present in successful songs. But how many artists truly sing with their own voices? Without naming names, there are musicians who layer their vocals with 16 tracks and various harmonies.

It’s similar to cooking: If you give the same ingredients to two chefs, they’ll still choose different preparation methods, and one wrong ingredient can ruin the dish. Similarly, in music production, a single word or emphasis can often determine the success of a song.”

How do you go about writing a song? Do you have a melody in your head and then write the other music for it or what’s Your typical songwriting process?

“Most of the time, I have a text in my head – perhaps something I’ve just seen or experienced, or a memory that resurfaced. There have even been moments when I wake up with a song playing in my mind. The rest unfolds as I listen and work on the production. Sometimes, it feels like there’s an empty space that needs an effect or a specific word.

I believe every artist has their own style. Despite only starting my song production journey in May 2024, I approach it intensively. During that month, my partner was away on a ladies’ dance trip for 10 days, and I used that time to work intensely and learn a lot. Ultimately, as my song suggests, in maintaining a balanced partnership, it’s all about “Happy Wife, Happy Life.””

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

“Here, as everywhere, there are pros and cons. But in general, it makes it easier for artists to market themselves and sets some limits for the big labels. Let’s be honest: If a major label approaches an artist, that artist has already achieved quite a bit without the label. However, if the artist isn’t somewhat known, the label wouldn’t approach them. Of course, they still have to compete against many others, but then they need to give it their all.

My motto: A few percent of something is better than 100% of nothing.”

What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?

“I’ve worked like everyone else. As a child, I helped on my parents’ farm, and from the age of 14, I trained as an automotive mechanic. After that, I completed my military service and spent 16 years working in a factory until I experienced burnout. I then retrained as a state-recognized media informatics specialist (which has been helpful in my music production). Since 2002, I’ve been self-employed in the event industry (www.ev.pro.de) and also create custom LED clocks for industrial, sports, and emergency room use (www.easy-stoppuhren.de).”

Would you have any advice for young people wanting to follow in your footsteps?

“Just do it, and invest a little in professionals. Especially when it comes to so-called Spotify clicks, you might pay very little, but in reality, they aren’t genuine clicks. Moreover, Spotify could be displeased, leading to disadvantages. In Germany, we often say: ‘Buy cheap, buy twice.’

Now, I come from Germany and live in the countryside, yet you’re reading this text somewhere in the world or listening to one of my songs.

You can be heard, but to achieve that, you must put your ideas into action. Try it, because those who don’t try will definitely achieve nothing or bring about no change! Listen to your inner voice and do what feels right for your heart and mind. And remember to handle constructive criticism well – sometimes external voices can be helpful!”

If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be?

“Addressing this topic is challenging due to the sheer volume of songs – currently around 100,000 per day. Finding a solution is no easy task. However, there should be a way for new or lesser-known artists with truly exceptional songs to break into public radio. I’ve often heard songs that were absolutely fantastic (apologies for the expression), with lyrics that left a lasting impact, yet they never made it to the airwaves. Many songs either remain buried on the web or never escape the drawer, and some labels only consider songs from established sources.

Nevertheless, I believe time will reveal where the industry is headed. Perhaps, in the future, specialized AI systems will allow artists to submit songs to labels, and if the AI detects at least 90% potential, artists will receive feedback!”

How do you feel about originality?

“Nowadays, every song should have originality; there are already plenty of remixes out there. As a KI producer without vocal talent, it’s challenging to express oneself directly in the song. However, I stick to my style – infusing emotion and storytelling into my music. I have an AI voice that narrates my story, but the real magic lies in creating a connection with the listener. I’ve reached out to artists before, and some have said, ‘Great song, but my audience won’t buy into it.’ Authenticity matters, and the song itself determines whether it resonates with the listener. After all, no man should sing about feeling rhetorically like a woman. Originality is crucial, but the song’s impact ultimately decides whether it captures hearts.”

Is there anything else we should know about you? or Something that you would like to add?

“My life motto is never to give up and always give others a chance. However, when someone persistently behaves poorly, it’s essential to recognize that infinite chances don’t exist. I prefer working with people rather than against them because together, we can achieve so much!”
