Brief info
Groovy Shirt Club are a London-based collective making groove-driven, intelligently written music rooted in real musicianship and lived experience. The philosophy that underpins Groovy Shirt Clu is a band focused on songs, performance and authenticity rather than trends.
The group brings together musicians with deep and diverse backgrounds. Members have worked with artists including Ray Davies, Paul Weller, Tom Jones, Culture Club, Kid Creole Us3 and the Royal Shakespeare Company!
Groovy Shirt Club’s first album, “Electric Flowers”, introduced a sound that blends melody, groove and thoughtful lyricism, earning radio support and interviews across BBC regional stations, Radio Caroline and a host of independent stations across Ireland, Japan, Australia the USA and New Zealand, alongside features in online music publications. A second album is currently in production and is scheduled for release in late Summer, with a third and fourth collection of songs already in development!
What sets Groovy Shirt Club apart is their commitment to honesty in recording and performance. No samples, no loops, no shortcuts — every part is played by a musician, often in single takes. As a result, their live performances reflect exactly what listeners hear on record: characterful, dynamic and human.
With plans for live shows later this year, including a London showcase, Groovy Shirt Club are focused on building a loyal audience for music with substance — made by real people, for people who still care about songs.
