M-Dot

M-Dot is a DC-based independent musician/singer-songwriter, in the United States. His love languages and passions are hip-hop and underground rap and he's been on the scene for over 20 years. M-Dot raps, sings, performs live, writes and composes his own songs and music. He also produces, mixes, records tracks in the studio, and collaborates with other artists.

As an original artist, M-Dot has performed in many venues in the DC/DMV area, such as The Wonderland Ballroom, The Pocket at 7DrumCity, Busboys and Poets, Hellbender Brewery, and as part of a cast production at George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium. He has performed numerous house party gigs as well, including with Baltimore-based DJ Taylor Senpai. M-Dot’s 2017 track remix release, “Everyday Millennial in DC,” was also played by DJ Edward Daniels of Scorpio Entertainment as an official opening song at the 2018 annual Crystal City Twilighter 5k Race in Arlington, VA.

M-Dot’s latest 2021 single, “One Day at a Time” (feat. Mary-eL), is a conscious hip-hop/R&B song that shares a chill, positive, reflective, storytelling vibe with a melodic piano and saxophone track in the background produced by Omito Beats. The song expresses a meaningful message, and exudes a catchy flow with lyrics spat by M-Dot, with a powerful vocal hook sang by prominent DMV-area R&B and soul/funk musician and singer-songwriter, Mary-eL. The vocals were professionally recorded and mixed by expert sound engineer and creative pop musician, Tyler Schafer, at Cue Recording Studios. The lyrics and melody for the hook and verses were written and composed by M-Dot. Inspired by Macklemore, OutKast, Common and the Black Eyed Peas, the song has a magnetic, relatable, personal feel for the struggles and resiliency of people in 2020-2021 and beyond.

“One Day at a Time” has been aired on radio stations including Takoma Radio on WOWD-LP 94.3 FM, the E-Jazz Radio station, the Glacer Underground FM Radio Show, Nam Radio Global, the European Indie Music Network, and the WOA-FM-99 Radio Show and Podcast – a nationally-syndicated show hosted by Multiple Billboard Top 10 Artist/Producer and MTV EMA Nominee, Oliver Sean! The single has also been featured and reviewed positively by various independent music blogs across the globe, such as HypeFresh, Music Reload, Hype Machine, The Good Music Radar, RapStar News, Illustrate Magazine, The Word is Bond, and the Roadie Music blog. It has also been included in various independently curated Spotify playlists. Also, M-Dot has also been interviewed and featured in-depth for his single both on the radio and on the www.GatherDC.org website!

In addition, M-Dot’s 2021 single was signed for a deal from Head A&R, Stuart Cheese, on the roster for media promotion by UK-based label, One Night Stand Music & Management! In September 2022, the single also appeared in Volume 12 of W.O.A. Entertainment Group’s major, multi-genre, heavily-distributed, world-wide Independent No.1’s Compilation Album for indie breakthrough artists! The album has charted at #1 on Amazon UK “Hot New Releases.”

M-Dot writes about his life, things he’s been through, things he’s seen, and things that matter to him. He’s always been immersed in hip hop music and culture throughout his entire life, and it’s been a lifesaving creative outlet for him to express himself — these days especially, now more than ever.
